PKO Pensioners' Club
Work and the work community are a big part of our lives, and the void that arises when retirement begins can be difficult for many to fill. Based on this idea, the PKO Pensioners' Club was founded in 2016. Those who have retired from PKO can join the club, and there is no separate membership fee. The club has about 350 members, who meet on various topics a few times a year. PKO is actively involved in supporting the club's activities.“You can see cooperative members, friends and acquaintances at the events,” says Raili Kinnunen, who has been the chairman of the Pensioners' Club since the beginning.You can join by coming directly to the events, which are announced in PKO Sanomat and Karjalan Heili, or by contacting secretary Anja Laukkanen.“We hope for active participation and development of the activities,” says Raili.The club has organized, among other things, meetings, familiarization visits and joint trips, such as an autumn trip to Koli, a trip to Tallinn and yard cleaning volunteers in Petrinlahti.Retirees' joint Christmas party

PKO pensioners' Christmas party
- For several years, Pohjois-Karjalan Osuuskauppa has invited its retired employees to a shared Christmas celebration. In 2023, more than one hundred retirees from across PKO’s operating area attended the warm-hearted event at Original Sokos Hotel Kimmel. The program included speeches and live music performed by both conservatory students and professionals – along with sing-alongs and catching up with old friends. The highlight of the celebration was Kimmel’s Christmas lunch.After a long career, many may feel a sense of emptiness. That is why a personal invitation to the Christmas party is valuable and makes people feel appreciated. PKO’s Christmas celebration for retirees is an important and anticipated event. It’s wonderful to meet former colleagues at least then and exchange news. It’s also nice to hear PKO updates in the CEO’s speech. “The event surely brings everyone a true Christmas spirit,” says Raili Kinnunen, chair of the retirees’ club.
