Working across sectors

The world of work is in transition. Doing the same job forever isn’t necessarily an attractive idea – and often not even possible. At PKO, we are involved in the transition and encourage our employees to work across different locations and business areas if they so wish.In our employee satisfaction survey, we wanted to find out how our personnel perceive the sufficiency of their working hours. The majority felt that they had a sufficient number of working hours. However, a group of 250 people would be willing to work more than they currently do.The number may have been smaller than expected, but was still significant enough to warrant action. In our view, cross-working is the quickest way to address the issue. It’s a win-win approach: for the employee, it offers not only the chance to increase their working hours, but also the opportunity to take on more varied tasks and discover new meaning in their work.At the same time, working across multiple locations offers an opportunity for a more stable income by offsetting the impact of seasonal fluctuations. For the employer, cross-working means flexibility. It makes it easier to allocate work to locations where the demand for labour is highest. Employees who move between locations bring fresh ideas and energy with them.
